Make sure that you are using the right internet, (Cable, LAN, etc..) selection in your prefrences! But if it says "Masterserver Timeout" or "Masterserver failed" it may be your internet connection. Make sure you aren't downloading anything that's taking up your banwidth. Other than that, if your trying to connect using a third party mod. (Like trying to connect while using ChaosUT conversion.) or if your searching for a game under a certain tab that got added when you installed a mod, those usually don't work because they don't have a backup .ini stating the type of prefix it should look under, leaving it blank. Worst case scenario, just re-install ur ut leaving all the extra folders including system, texture, sound, and music that way you can keep all of your dl'ed mods.
Ok so i created a multiplayer internet server but my friend can't see it in his ut99 i love this game and i have a clan but it doesn't want to let me use my clan event it is public btw called Wack-A-Bot on wendsdays but any way it is a dedicated server but only the ppl on my lan can see it
Post subject: Friend can't find your dedicated server
One question I have, are you running a router on your network? If so, it may be blocking internet requests. In order for him to be able to find your server, you need to open the ports that UT needs. DMZ is the easiest way to open the ports if you don't know which ones to open, but this carries risks. You also need to make sure your firewall isn't blocking incoming connections. Routers have a built in firewall that will block incoming connections, causing him not to be able to find your game. Also, if you don't have it set to advertise server, then he has add it to his favorites manually to see it, or use open location.
On my Router/DSL modem, I had to also turn OFF "Attack Detection".
That was all it was that was keeping MY server from showing up out on the net.

PS: In additon to opening ports, etc., you should update your Master Server URLs.
Some of them have vanished and there are other New Master Servers now that work well.
Thes are in you UnrealTournament.ini file.
